Fast Facts About Using the Library

The following will help explain the rules and regulation for using the library.

FINES FOR OVERDUE BOOKS ARE BEING CHARGED.

Fines are $  .10 per day per book.  The maximum fine per book is $5.00.  The maximum fine per patron is $10.00.  This does not include the cost of lost or damaged books.  Patron accounts will be blocked when fines total $1.50.  No more books can be checked out until the fines are paid.  Fines will continue to accrue until the balance is paid.

In order to make as much information available to as many people as possible, patrons are allowed to have 10 (ten) books checked out on their cards at any time and only 2 (two) non-fiction books per family on the same subject.  We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but it allows for a better flow of material.  This is especially important when students are doing research.  Would it be better for 20 families to each have 2 books on a particular topic or for 2 families to each have 20 books on that topic?  

Everyone must be registered as a patron and possess a valid Acadia Parish Registration card before they can use the computers.  Children under 14 must be registered by their parents or guardians in order to have full library privileges.  Children, whose parents will not come in to properly register them, can register themselves for computer usage with a report card from school.  This will be considered registration with partial privileges.  Partial privileges means you can check out only one book at a time.  There will be a $3.00 charge for the first replacement of your library card and you are responsible for all use of your card. For additional cards the charge is $5.00 (the library reserves to right to charge added fees for more than 3 replacement cards).
