In 1999 the Acadia Parish Library Board of Control applied for and received a grant for $48,000.00 from the State Library to help automate the Acadia Parish Library. Automation systems were compared and proposals were submitted by 5 companies. The library decided on Library Solutions.Com from The Library Corporation. (This is the same company that has contracted to provide the interlibrary loan software and maintenance for the State Library of Louisiana.)
Marcive, Inc. or San Antonio, Texas will provide the conversion of our existing shelf list to the MARC (Machine Readable Cataloging) Format developed by the Library of Congress. This process started this month (August, 2000) and will take approximately six months.
Other public libraries in Louisiana that are using The Library Corporation include Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, Sabine, St. Martin, Tangipahoa, and Terrebonne.
